i'm changing a home a/c thermostat (rodgers s28-1) to a honeywell rth3100c) thermostat the installation manual does'nt show a color for color transfer to the new base the yellow,green,red,white goes on aux,i guess but ,L is ? E is? then there's b and c ??? seems like they've managed to make a simple job hard. unit is a straight cool with heat strips worked fine with old stat just trying to up grade

Did you mark the wires coming off the old thermostat by any chance
Because installer use ther own color combos this is not exact here
R = Red wire which could be jumpered to RC if one transformer
W = W wire
G = Green wire
Y = Yellow
O = Orange wire
If you have more wires lets talk more

since i'm replacing the old wire the wires are still on the old thermostat i have replaced the wires where they "all" connect at the air handler color for color red to red green to green etc. but the other end of the wires where they connect to the new thermostat base terminal designations are left to right, E- AUX-Y-G-O-L-R-B-C, old thermostat(white rodgers S28-1) of course were green to G ,red to R etc except for E was black and X was blue, now I would assume that Y is yellow G is green on the new base but L,B,C,E, are not well defined new thermostat is a RTH3100c honeywell the unit worked fine with the old stat a friend just wanted to upgrade to this non programmable digital

Yes most time they are color for color like you have and here is wiring installation manual and page 11 and 12 are quite clear what wres go where
