High bounce rubber balls and a slingshot
Sent to General Experts April 30 02:46 AM

I am a 22-year-old majoring in English so I do not know a whole lot about science but this question is keeping me up at night and it’s really bothering me.....WHY? I have no idea! Anyhey, here goes:

Say you are standing at the top of a 274 story building and you have a slingshot and standard-size-hi-bounce rubber balls.

If you shoot a hi-bounce rubber ball directly downward with the slingshot would it:

A. gain momentum with the force of gravity as it falls downward?

B. lose momentum because of air pollutants?

C. neither gain nor lose momentum but stay at a steady pace?

I absolutely HAVE to know the answer to this question. I don’t know why it’s just that the idea just randomly ran through my head tonight---that happens a lot so I may email you again sometimes.

Usually I can get my answers from www.howstuffworks.com or www.askjeeves.com but this is something I figure the experts need to explain to me.

Thanks a lot
