How long does it take to get indictment in ohio? Offense happend 12/08/2008

Answer

Whether or not an indictment is obtained is at the discretion of the prosecutor, who can charge by a bill of information instead of indictment. If the charge is a serious felony, there is a 20 year statute of limitations to indict and if the charge is any other felony there is a 6 year statute of limitations under Ohio law. If you exercise your speedy trial rights by filing a motion with the court for a speedy trial on an arrest, they have 180 days to charge you unless they can demonstrate good cause to the court for not doing so.
