Question

The vet thought it was a fight wound from a bite or claw. Antibiotics were given by injection on Wednesday. Her wound is hot and the puss appears to be coming from above the wound closer to her body. We have squeezed the puss out of the wound this morning and bathed it again with the salt water solution. The cat seems reasonably well but we are worried by the amount of puss leaking from the wound and she is constantly licking the wound clean.

Hi there,

I am sorry your cat has this trouble.

It is most likely an abscess:

It is going to keep draining and reforming due to bacteria in the airless environment.

Ask your vet for a script of clavamox or clinamycin BID for 14 days.

Since it is hot your girl should be reseen today.

Please let me know how she is doing.

Best wishes for her

Terri

Thank you for your advice. We had to drain the abscess again and then bathed it regularly with the salt water solution.
She seems to have made a full recovery.
