Just the protective cover on top of the fan that you take off with the screws...the screen. The compressor turns off, but the fan keeps going.
I know a little about electrical wiring and also checked for an exposed wire, or it touching the cover, it was strange. We were both perplexed on what could be causing the compressor to turn off.
He visually checked the capacitor and I looked at it, too. Looked fine, no bulges, rust, etc., but he did not put on a meter. He did not measure the amp draw on the compressor.
The owner who was on the phone, said there was an issue with the older Trane models, but I don't remember exactly what issue was...
The owner of the company is on vacation and we were walking through it on the phone at first, as he didn't want to charge me for an unnecessary visit so he walked me through some things I could check myself. I had the fuses checked, and they were fine (dual filament). I purchased new fuses just in case and inserted them into the fuse holder. There was a buzzing from the outside box. He thought it might be the capcitor, but that was fine. There was another set of wires, and the power wire was burned on the outside and grounding to the a/c unit. They cut the wire, stripped it, and re-connected it which seemed to fix the issue. Then, when they were finishing up, and put the cover back-on, the compressor would stop working.
