Question

dear reanih, this is XXXXXXXX you helped me a couple of weeks ago with my six sick cats...4 are back to normal, 2 of my inside cats got out while they were sick, they stayed gone 3days, 1 came back and died, the other was acting like she was ready to die.... anyway after 10 days of finally getting this cat to eat again, and yes she does go to the bathroom, and have b.m.'s like normal again, but her stomach was swollen and now i know why, we delivered 7 kittens as of right now today...my question is since she was sick and i don't won't the kittens to catch or spread what they had should i give some amoxiciallin to mama cat and let the amox work thru her or should i give it to them one by one...thank you so much...beauxtaz

dear reani, thanks for getting back to me, mama cat is doing great and has finally got over her stuffy nose, the kittens seem to be ok, they are only a few hours old, and i really don't want that virus/flu/cold or whatever it was to spread again, i couldn't handle another bout of that....thanks again for your help and your time...beauxtaz

Well first, congrats on the new furbabies! Second, I am so terribly sorry to hear that one has died...my sincerest condolences to you...

If mom is not showing any symptoms and the kittens are nursing, then I would not give the antibiotics. The kittens will develop antibodies from their mother's milk, and will need the milk in as natural a state as possible. Thankfully mom has recovered before giving birth! However if symptoms surface, be sure to contact your vet before administering anything...

Just be sure the babies are nursing and mom is eating okay, and switch mom to kitten food to help give her the nutrients she will need to support her babies!

Keep me posted...and best of luck with the new additions!

Warmest Wishes,
Reani
