Question

My 14 year old dog, who is good health, has been constantly moaning and can't seem to sit still or get comfortable when laying down. She goes from the chair to her bed to the floor etc. This went on for several hours. She has a high tolerance to pain. I wonder if she ate something in the empty lots around the house. I took her for a walk and she to have improved, but then it started again today but not to the extreme of the day before. I also gave her a clockwise belly rub and she seemed to like that. What else should I do?

Hello,
Sorry to hear about your concern.
Well, at this age with this repetitive symptom, it is definitely time to get her into a vet.
I don't want this problem to persist as she is probably either agitated, nauseated, or in pain.

I would strongly recommend a basic blood test for an overall health assessment.
In addition, I would not doubt she has got some degenerative joint disease (arthritis) going on, so she may benefit greatly from a trial on a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication.

For your stomach concerns:
To help settle the stomach you could try one of the following drugs. My favorite product is Pepcid (an over-the-counter antacid).

Pepcid (Pepcid A.C.)
Pepcid comes in 10mg or 20mg tablets. You can give it every 12 hours.
The dose can be found within the following link:

Prilosec
