Question

I am installing a ceiling fan with both a light kit and a remote-control kit. The problem is the wires don't agree.

For example, out of the ceiling I have a BLACK, WHITE, and RED wire. Going into the remote receiver is a RED and WHITE wire.

What do I do with the BLACK wire coming out of the ceiling?

Thanks,
Ed

Ok what you want to do first is cap off the red wire coming out of the ceiling. That is the switched wire and you wont need it. Now you will take the black wire from the ceiling and attach it to the red wire going into the remote. Then white to white.
