Question

I have a brand new Troy Bilt tb525cs string trimmer. I am having problems with line being advanced automatically to the point I can't cut. I've read the instructions and hoping you see something I'm doing wrong.

It says to align the arrows on the cutting head knob with the outerspool eyelets. I then feed about 10 feet of line through it till even. Then I turn the cutting head clockwise until I have just a few inches of line sticking out.

When I start the trimmer and begin using it.....it almost immediately begins to let line out on its own till it's too much and wrapped around the head.

Any idea on why the line is letting itself out? It's driving me crazy.

Is it letting the line out even if you do not touch the head on the ground?

Yes. Its not the orange easy feed head you see online for the model. Its black and red

My unit does not have the speed spool. The manual shows how to load the line with the "speed spool" and my unit does not have that. I think I will try and call the Troy Bilt help line tomorrow.

Answer

Your spool may be an aftermarket spool in which I would need to know who it is made by.
