Question

My cat got run over last night. He had scans, nothing broken, but some deep wounds. However, the front leg , the doctor said is must be nerve damage and to amputate. Last night a pupil was dilated. I do not want to cut his leg off, i want to look after him to see he might improve. tell me please about chance of recovery, at least partial.

i have tried anything, the doctor will clean up the wounds, but she suggesterd amputation for the limp leg.

Are the nailbeds blue?

i dont really now, the vet did not tell me. front leg, 7 yers old

Dear Teodora,

 

If the leg is cold with blue nail beds it can become gangrenous and harm your boy which is why a vet would suggest amputation. If the leg feels warm with a pulse you can limit him to cage or room rest and see if he recovers movement.

 

I would give it at least a week, IF the leg is warm.
