I have a GE motor 1/2 HP 110/220 single phase model # 5BSR806A1 I need some help on tghe wiring

how are you wiring it 110 or 220 ?

Is there a diagram on the motor for connections ?

110. the only diagram on the plate is tiny and has T1, T2 , T3 and T4 with dots and lines. My handyman says that there is a live wire (unsheilded) coming out of the motor. It is belted to a printing press

I know this is difficult but usually a motor with that many leads is 3 phase are you sure it's 110 volts ?

Is there a capisator on it ?

Is the unshielded wire a ground or did the motor get hot and burn up ?

well - I don't think this is going to work - I am just not knowledgable enough to have this converstaion. it says single phase on the plate. I do not know if it has a capisator or not. The motor did not burn up and works fine - but if you touch the press and a metal type case you get quite a little shock. The wire come out of the opposite side from the place where the belt is...it comes out and then goes back in. This is pitiful. sorry.

My thought was that I could shield the wire and all would be well. I have used this heat/shrink covers before (scary, huh?)

Well being a maintenance mechanic for over 30 years i have done it all to keep things running until i can fix them properlley

I understand where your coming from

So ground the press real rell and insulate the wire and see what happens
