Hi,
what year is your 325i please?
Rich.
Right, well it's quite straight forward so i'll try and describe it best I can.....
First of all you need to pull up the rear bench and remove it. All it needs is a hard tug straight upwards at the front.
Under the seat you'll see 2 rubber circles on each side with wires going into them. The fuel pump is the one on the right hand side of the car.
Lift up the insulation mating around the right hand one and underneath you'll find a metal plate held down by 4 10mm nuts. Remove these, lift the plate up and disconnect the plug connector.
There will be a fuel pipe connected to the top of the plastic fuel sender that is now visible, be careful when diconnecting this as there may still be pressure in the line.
You will be able to see that the fuel sender is held down by a big metal ring with raised parts all around it's edge. You ideally need a special too inorder to remove this. It can be removed with a screwdriver and hammer but I would never advise this incase a spark were made. It unscrews anti-clockwise.
With the ring removed the fuel sender and pump can be lifted upwards, but there will be pipes connected inside the tank which can be tricky to access.
When refitting the sender it's good practice to replace the rubber sealing ring it sits in.
Yes, It's a saddle tank which means that fuel must be lifted from the other side of the tank to the pump side through pipes inside the tank. It will become clear once you have lifted the pump sender upwards.
Hi
there is no other inline pump. The one pump is used to supply fuel to the engine and transfer fuel from one side of the fuel tank to the other aswell. The diagram HERE shows both senders and the pipe (number 3) that connects to number 7 inside the tank.
The special tool is used to remove the metal retaining ring (number 6 in diagram) and is BMW special tool part number 16 1 020. Removing the ring can be achieved without the special tool.
