Hello welcome to just answer. You need to find out what the code is that is stored in the computer to find out why its running bad. The reason the check engine light flashes sometimes is because the is seeing the catalytic converter is being damaged. You should be able to go to autozone and they should be able to read the codes for you. Eric

ok well i figured it would need to be hooked up to a computer and i know this is a pretty broad question but what r the most common and most expensive things that u have seen in your experience. is it most commonly a catalytic converter or an o2 sensor. and is the catalytic converter the most expensive thing it could be?

If you can find out what the code is you maybe able to fix it yourself. It may just need to be tuned up. Eric
