Question

We leave our fan running constantly and one evening I noticed that the fan was not running. I assumed that it was probably the motor and decided that the next morning I would call a contractor to come and repair whatever. The next morning I got out the phone book to look the number and I happened to glance in the direction of an indicator rhat the fan was running and sure enough it was running. H mmmm. I assumed that some fluke had caused the incident and forgot about it. Later that day, it stopped again and I was able to start up again. I came to the conclusion that the problem was most likely the thermostat. I have tried doing the setup procedure and when I get the day up on the screen and run the day there are no check marks along side the list of days and sometimes the light on the screen goes out. sometimes the screen goes blank and I cannot get anything up. I have tried several times to resolve the problem without success. Is there help available. We have a (RTH7500) mo

Answer

Hello,

Have you checked the battery of the thermostat? It may just need replacing with fresh batteries.

I have already replaced the batteries

Ok.

If the fan stops by itself and run by itself, there is a probability that the fan is overheating and the thermal overload is being triggered. It may not be in the thermostat.

Fan motors has thermal overloads where in it could trip if the temperature of the winding exceeded a limit . Specially if it is running continuously as you have stated. The thermal overload would reset as the temperature goes down.

Do you have the manual for your thermostat?

I do have a manual if you want one.
