I,m workin on a Trane heat pump system.ouydor mod.#4twxgo24b100aa w/ahu mod.#
4tee3f31a1000ab. the o.d. air temp was 83 deg. f. and would only cool down to 79 deg. f.
indoors. unit had 356 psig. high side and 167psig low side. does this system sound like it is overcharged?,andhow many square foot home would it cool with fairly insulated construction?

Hello,

I could only answer you regarding your pressure values but I do not know how many square foot it can cool.

The pressures that you have given are very high than normal. Usually, suction pressure would just be 60 - 70 psi on 85 degrees F ambient.
Discharge pressure would be 250 - 290 psi max if ambient are in the 90's
Unless the condenser coil is clogged with dirt.

this system uses r 410a is this still too high

Oh. That would be a big difference.

At 176 psi, temperature of refrigerant is 62 degrees F. ( still a little bit high).

You can try to recover some of the gas and stabilize the suction pressure to 105 psi which is 34 degrees F. Which is about the temperature of the evaporator.
