Question

I have a Pixma MP830 all in one and I just got a new iMac and when I hooked it up, I was able to print but I can't scan pictures. I don't have MP Navigator on new Mac and can't locate disc that came with printer, is there someplace I can download what I need to make scanner work?

Answer

Hello,

Here is where the scanner drivers are for your printer:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=123&modelid=12804#DownloadDetailAct

Click Mac OSX in the Drivers/Software Selection section.

I didn't see MP Navigator but will look more.

Thanks,
Rob

Unfortunately the 1st link I tried did not work at all. I did some digging and found that MP Navigator doesn't work with OS X 10.5 and was told to try Image Capture. I finally got my scanner working but it sure seems slower. Although the links you gave me did not help me, I do appreciate your finding them for me, I usually end up going in circles when I'm looking for something online, it's worth it to me. Thank you for your time.

Answer

Yes, you can stop the installer or force quit it and then restart and reinstall it. Won't hurt anything. If your scanner seems slower it could be because you are scanning at a higher resolution, enlarging or descreening is on. All of those things make scanning slower. Yes, you can use Image Capture and also the Preview application for scanning. Glad you got your scanner going again and thanks for the accept.
