I have entered my AOL password and email address. Safari tells me it can't open web-site. However my husband can open his AOL mail with Safari on the same computer.

Answer

I want you to make sure you have all the Apple Updates... found under the Apple Menu.

If you do Open Safari and under the Safari Menu choose Reset Safari... and check everything except Cookies, Passwords, and Autofill.

Dear Bob,
Thanks for your reply, however it did not work. I can only open my mail in the Guest Account and not under my own account. That means I have to log out and log in to get to my mail. My husband uses the same computer and is able to get to his aol mail just fine.
Any other ideas?
Thank you,

Answer

If you go to //Users/Your Username/Library/Preferences/ and delete com.apple.mail.plist (maybe place
it on your desktop first before deleting it) and then open mail, it should fix your problem. This will delete all of your preferences and should replace the preference panes you seemed to have lost. Once you have opened mail the first time, it will replace this file with a new one, if something goes wrong, just put yours back.

If you are still missing something, you should be able to go into Mail and import your old account and e-mails by selecting File>Import Mailboxes.
