If I am purchasing a new Yamaha boat, should I purchase the extended warranty?

Wow! I know a bit about this.And without throwing an aftermarket warranty company under the bus. As simple as I can put it, it's a bet. In the agreement in the general contract, it would say "we cover this and that", and, then say "cylinder wall" is not on the list, its not necessarily covered. As well, if a mechanic can prove lack of maintenance, or a grounding or collision to cause failure,(the later normal insurance would be used..) No payment. So for me, it depends. For your small boat, especially if the dealer is convenient to you, AND it's a Yamaha warranty, I would go for it. Remember though, if it is a new boat, at least in Florida, you have a year to purchase an extended warranty. That info is worth more than the $4.50 I get! But ask the salesman! Make them work!
