Question

I have a 2004 Mazda RX-8. The cel came on and I could not accelerate sporadically. I was doing around 40 mph and the pedal to the floor and nothing. It then would accelerate after about 15 seconds. When I came to a stop there was a vibration and the engine seemed it was about to shut off.   I checked all fluids and they are fine. It only has 37000 miles on it.   Thanks for any heads up.

Optional Information

2004 Mazda RX-8 Rotary

Already Tried:
I shut the car off and restarted and it seemed fine for a couple of minutes and then it would almost stall at a complete stop or wouldn't accelerate and start the process over again with the vibration at a complete stop idling and comtenplate stalling. The CEL would flash when idling or low RPMs but would be solid once RPMs increased.

Answer

You need to have your codes read. Even if the light is off now there will be codes stored. Most parts stores will read you codes for free. I may be your TPS (throttle position sensor). But you will know for sure when you get the codes.

The engine light stays on now. This all happen about a week ago with the engine light, but car seemed fine. It started with all the other problems today.

Answer

Get the codes checked and you will know what the problem is. It is probably an easy fix.
