my computer is out on my ford ranger and i do have the number for it but the wiring was this number e4-lb-14a468-ao in it is the number for the computerand this is the number that ford gave me e6-pz-12a640 ea that is fords part number

the computer is out on my 1986 ford ranger 2.9 l 5 speed truck and i can not find the the number on it so i can get a new on but the wiring that plugs in to it has this number on it e4-lb-14a468-ao is this it

No that is simply the wiring harness number it will not work to find the correct pcm. A good parts store should not have a problem looking it up by aplication. Good luck and thankyou for choosing just answer.

i called ford they said they could not lokit up and i gave them the vin number for the truck

It is too old to get from ford so you will have to go aftermarket or a wrecking yard. Thankyou

so what should the number be on the computer so i know what to look for

If you go to wrecking yard or aftermarket auto parts store they will look it up by the type of vehicle and engine options that you have. There is no real way to tell what the number may have been 22 years ago.
