Question

I have a 2006 330i which I bought from a friend (only owner). It has 43k miles and I overall, I have had very few problems.

So far with the existing warranty I've had the A/C blowers worked on, replaced the rear brake pads and had to replace 2 interior door handles as well as the center console because of peeling paint (which I'm now told was a production problem w/ this car).

I did not plan to purchase any extended warranties, but now I am wondering whether I should?

In your expert opinion, are these worth it or would the major problems have arisen by now?

thanks

For a second owner of a BMW there is only one option for extending warranty and that relates to the maintenance. This warranty coverage is for items like the brakes (pads, sensor and rotors), drive belts, oil changes, standard scopes, vehicle checks, wiper inserts, flushes, etc. For the best cost of ownership this plan is a good idea. The price for your model is 1595.00. The process is simple and all you have do is go to any BMW dealership and they can have you taken care of in no time. As for extended warranty options, there are many out on the market but there are several questions you want to ask before purchasing one:

1. Will you pay the shop labor rate or do you have a cap on the dollar amount?

2. Do you pay the company directly or do I have to get it repaired and then get reimbursed?

3. Will you cover the BMW labor guide times or do you they use their own time guide?

4. Will you cover the cost of BMW Original Equipment Parts?

Deciding on a warranty is a difficult task and one that should be weighed on the quality of your experience thus far. There are no major problems that have been detected with this vehicle but with anything over the course of time there are things that will come into play. There many examples of your vehicle model year with much higher mileage traveling down the road with little to no problems.
