Hello XXXXXXXXXX.
Welcome to Just Answer.
Have you tried to jump start the car?
When you turn the key to start does the dash go dark?
May I have the last seven digits of your VIN please?
How many miles are on your car?
Thank you,
Scott
No, I haven't tried to jump start the car as the electrical systems are working.
The dash doesn't go dark...after all of the usual lights go off (all of the service lights for instance) after a few seconds, the dash remains illuminated.
I don't have the VIN information with me.
There are 79,000 miles on the car.
I would try jumping the car or connecting a battery charger just to rule out low voltage as an issue.
If that does not change anything then I think you have one of two issues. The next thing I would try is if you have a different key try to start the car with that. Sometimes the transponder in the key will fail and not allow the car to start.
If that does not work then I think you have a faulty ignition switch. A bad ignition switch will not let power get to where it needs to be and will allow power to go to places it should not be, causing some odd issues.
Good luck,
