Question

I have 2 linked rheem RHlp 0304v07123 waterheaters they have not run for a year or so. They have the piezo igniter. I can get the pilot ignited but when you release the button it slowly goes out. The flame of the pilot is all blue. My best guess is that the thermo couple needs to be replaced. The thermo cupple on these unites has 2 wires going to the burner one copper one silver. What should I replace it with if indeed that is the problem or should I check some other things. thanks Greg Thomas

Dear Rick I am going to click on accept but I would like a small bit of imformation. The part I might need is a flame rod. ( the rod looked like it was still in good shape but dirty]is the flame rod the end of the bare silver and copper wire or is it where the pliot light orignates. I am a carpenter by trade so I am handy. The heaters are in a very remote area of Idaho and is not easily axcessable and there are no parts houses around.
