Answer

Hi there,

Before changing anything else, I would suggest getting a compression test done.

For code P1310, there are different codes and using the onboard diagnostic Unit would get a more accurate code.

Volvo Self-Diagnostic System

System is capable of self-diagnostic functions through the use of Volvo diagnostic unit in engine compartment. System has 3 test modes. Test mode No. 1 is used to display and erase codes. Test mode No. 2 is used to verify operation of system components. Test mode No. 3 operates components in a certain order. Access to diagnostic system is provided by socket No. 2 on diagnostic unit with ignition on.

CAUTION: After displaying DTCs, ignition must be switched off BEFORE engine is started.

Test Mode No. 1 (Displaying Codes)

1. To retrieve codes, open Volvo diagnostic unit cover (located in right corner of engine compartment) and connect test lead to socket No. 2. Turn ignition on. Enter test mode No. 1 by pressing test button once for 1-3 seconds.

2. Observe LED, and count number of flashes in 3 digit series comprising a fault code. Because series are displayed at 3-second intervals, codes can be easily distinguished.

3. If a fault code is retrieved, note it down. Depress push button again, and check for additional codes. Depress push button a third time if necessary. If first code repeats, no other codes are present.

Test Mode No. 1 (Erasing Codes)

1. Codes can be erased only after all DTCs have been displayed and first DTC has been repeated at least once. To erase DTC, turn ignition on. Press test button on Volvo diagnostic unit and hold for more than 5 seconds. Wait for LED response.

2. Press button again and hold for more than 5 seconds. Turn ignition off and on. Start engine. All DTCs will be erased and all adaptive values reset.

The info you present is well documented and will offer me no new insight into the "solution" for the problem.

I was looking for a high percentage belief on weather it was "compression" or "faulty iginition system". Somehow you weren't sure and this I can appreciate. Diagnostic conclusion are often difficulty and the tentaive solution is to "run" more test.

Thanks, but the answer is unacceptable.

Hi there,

I did not expect you to accept immediately. Test have to be performed to know what is causing the fault and for P1310, the on board diagnostic has 2 different cause, one involves the catalytic converter.

I suggested testing the compression to see if there waere anything wrong with it but since you expect a direct answer without and analysis, I am afraid I am not able to provide them and I will opt out and let other experts assist you.

Thank you

XXXXXXXX.

Yes first check the wires. Most commonly what can happen is the casing that sits in the motor to the spark plug will foul, look for a black spot on this casing, if there replace. If still supected that needs replace.

The cap and rotor, look again for dirty terminals inside the cap. Replace if you see black spots on all the electrodes.

All other spark plugs are recieveing spark, but with your plug getting wet with fuel, no spark is apperent.

For the code for the front o2 sensor. This could be caused by the misfire. But it is a signal fault. This can be both either front or rear o2 sensor. I would recommenc fixing the misfire first, then see if the code returns.

I hope this helps, let me know if there is anything else i can help you with.
