Question

My 2000 323i displays CHECK ENGINE SOON for the first time since 1999. My independent BMW repair people reset service intervals 8 yrs ago.
Anything I should be prepared for when I take it in? I am observing the service schedules from the transparent sticker on my windshield.
Thank you, VN

Nothing

Accepted Answer

The Check Engine Soon (Service Engine Soon) light does not come on for maintenance purposes. It only comes on if the engine control module detects a fault in either in the engine or emission control systems.
You will have to get the fault code pulled with the help of a scan tool in order to start diagnosis.
It may be sensor related issue, vacuum leak or many other problems.
