Question
hithere - after working correctly, my access 2002 (office xp) database/s will not show an image inserted into a form - after inserting an image, i see, for example, apple.jpg. all the other images i have inserted are still there and visible, but this problem occurs each time i try to insert a new image - have tried this in several different databases with same result - i created a new field in one database and added it to a form - same result - so it's access, not the database -- also did a "cleanup" of my registry, hard drive, etc using uniblue and also the system tools - with no change - system is right now compacting old files, which is taking a long time - i also tried saving my image as a bitmap (suggested on microsoft site) - inserting the bitmap produces the same result - any help appreciated - TY - lynn bullock

Info Request
lynn,
Can you send me your database file? I can try to re-create the problem on my computer, just to see if it is your machine or not. Just make a copy of your database, and delete any sensitive data that you may have in the tables.
You can upload your file to
http://www.rapidshare.com
After you upload the file to Rapidshare, it will give you a Download Link, you will need to copy and paste that link into a Reply here.
Also, just give me some basic steps on what you were doing so that I can try to do the same....
Thanks,
XXXX X.

before i do that -- i have identified that in an image that is already there, the properties indicate "photo editor object" and in the next record where i want to insert an image, it is indicated as "package object" (this when i right click on it) -- maybe you know something about that -- i plan to research that in the morning -- for now, i'm braindead from trying -- in the meantime, complete cleanup and defrag are complete and it didn't make a difference -- if i don't hear anything from you about the data type (which, btw, is OLE Object in the underlying table), i will upload the database for you -- i did mention that this is happening in other databases, too? -- thanks for your help

Interesting... I've never actually used the OLE Object field type.
I've always made the field a text type. Stored the path to the image file in this field, and just ran some code when I need to display the picutre.
Anyways, I'm willing to toy with this idea...
So, when you want to add a picture to one of these fields... Do you got Insert menu, and select Object? What do you click/select next?

problem is i don't know how to "run code" -- not a programmer, although sometimes it seems that way -- at any rate -- insert/object/create from file -- then browse to find my picture -- i've been doing this for years -- don't understand why all of a sudden this is happening -- my next step is to do a search on this data type thing, and then reinstall office if i can't find anything
should i be upgrading to access 2007? and can i do that without upgrading the entire office suite? and how different is the 2007 version from what i'm using (wondering if i'll even recognize it)
