Question

I have a 2003 Yamaha GP800R. We went to start it up for the season, and everything went fine except the oil warning light and beeper came on. There is plenty of oil in the tank, and we pulled the sender and filter out and everything was ok. Oil is definitely getting into the fuel stream based on the oil smoke coming out of the exhaust.

Any ideas? thanks for your help...

Hi XXXXXXXXXXX,
I suggest taking the sender back out of the tank and turning it upside down. Hold it upside down and start the ski. See if the warning light goes out. If it goes out, the float may have been stuck down, re-install it and try it again. If not, un-plug the sender and try it again. If it goes out when you un-plug it, the sender has an internal short and will need to be replaced.
Thanks
