Question

My son's driveway slopes down to a basement garage in St. Louis. Water flows into the garage despite a drain there to catch the water. The drain might not be much higher than the street storm drain, so maybe this is all his run off and maybe it is backed up from the street drain line.
What sort of contractor would we call to inspect and provide an estimate-- concrete? waterproofing?   Could the city dept help tell us what sort of draining slope we have to eliminate the back up question?

Any other suggestions or ideas of where to start? The water enters garage and basement when it overflows the drain that is there. so we have basement items wet and ruined.

I would contact a plumbing contractor. Tell them you have a storm water issue. Any other needed contractors could be subcontracted through them. Always get at least three estimates/bids. Make sure it is in writing and clearly defined the work to be preformed under this contract.

Yes, call the city. There may be a restriction in their system contributing to the backups.
