Question

Dear Dr. Phil and/or son on the doctors, Much enjoy your show! My son, 40 yrs old was diagnosed autistic at Emory in Atlanta at 3 l/5 years. Now he has had a problem with alcohol and has had pancreatis twice. I heard about the program about baclofen and Dr. Ameisen on your show and have ordered the book. I am desperate and need help for him now. He is suicidal and could you please supply me with a doctor or doctors in Atlanta area who could perscribe this for him. He is/was high performing with a college degree and a masters in psychology but is not working now nor has he been for the past two years, Please help! Hewitt houselady @bell south.net

Yes, I would like my question answered if you have the information. My adult son is autistic since birth but was high functioning, has a college degree in chemistry and a masters in psychology but has become dependent on alcohol and I am very much interested in trying baclofen as shown on Dr. Phil show and used to treat himself by Dr. Ameisen, a french cardiologist, who discovered that this medicine takes away the anxiety associated with alcohol cravings.

Hi,

 

You would need to seek an evaluation from a local psychiatrist in your area. Try to find a psychiatrist who specializes in Addictions - they will be fully versed in those specific kinds of treatment methods.
