Hello XXXXXXXXX XXXX. Thank you for asking your question on JustAnswer. The sour smell should go away in a couple of days. While the odor may be unpleasant it should not damage the plants. You could add charcoal available from your garden store to sweeten the soil but I believe it will be OK without it. Next time try not to let the moss stay wet for more than a day or two. Warm water will speed the wetting of the moss.
