Can I safely drive my 2000 Honda Odyssey EX to deliver some materials (round trip is 186 miles) before having my vehicle serviced because the malfunction indicator light has come on recently? It is a holiday and nothing is open. Tightening the fuel cap has not corrected the problem, even after three short drives. I do not want to harm the car. However, I hate to cancel this trip. Any advice appreciated.

Tightening the gas cap so that at least3 clicks have sounded, then driving it three times on short trips to see if the light will go off. No luck! The car is driving normally except for the light.

Yes, if your vehicle is running ok you should have no problem making the trip especially if it is related to a emissions problem such as loose gas cap. You can bring vehicle to your local parts store and have them hook up a scan tool to tell you what the code for the check engine light is.
