Question

I have started my first Vegetable garden.
Beans,Spinach,Cukes,Radishes Etc.
Been 2 1/2 monthsa and EVERYTHING is growing great.
Except, I think I plant too many seeds too close together.
Every plant by type is really "overgrown"
Should I thin out or replant half of each or just let nature take its course?

Thank you for using Just Answer!

You will want to thin some of these plants out. If you have room go ahead and replant them in a different area of the garden. When everything is growing together it makes it more difficult to move around and harvest the crop. It also can lead to poor yields, but it sounds as if you have escaped that fate.

There is of course the risk that some of the plants will not survive being uprooted and transplanted.

Feel free to post any follow-up questions you may have.

Answer

Yeah that is definitely way too many that close together. I have seen this though before when I was growing up. I grew up on a farm in western PA and I did my share of gardening, mostly against my will though (moms ugh). Typically the plants will not grow well when they are stacked that much on top of each other. We just pulled them out and tossed them, but it is worth trying to replant in your case. Next year you will have a better idea of how much space you will need for a full grown plant.

yes and thank you for the accept!
