Question

I have a 27' Center Console Boat that is
powered by a YANMAR (DIESEL).
MODEL 315 6LPA-STP.
The Motor runs perfect but the Alternator
keeps on Crashing when I turn on the "Radar"
"Depth Sounder" and "Pumps".
The alternator is the Standard Alternator that
came with the Motor.
Does YANMAR have a Heavy Duty (Higher Amp)
Alternator that will work with my motor.

Huntfish-Yanmar made a 55 amp standard and 80 amp option for your engine. You can use a Balmar 110 amp as the max alternator available.

Now, to get to the source of the problem the alternator should not crash at any time. Even if it charges at 55 amps. It should just sit and charge. If your load is over 55 amps the bateries will slowly die, but if not then the bateries and alternator should all just hold. To me there sounds like another issue that has to be sorted.

If your really needed the extra amperage often people add a second alternator by going to a place such at Yachtwork.com and ordeing a second alternator kit. This will produce over 200 amps. That should power about anything.
