Question

I was arrested for an old warrant I knew nothing about. It was written in 1996 for hot checks. Are there any statute of limitations on hot checks? If I contact the district attorney and pay the checks before court am I better off?

Thanks

Answer

The statute of limitations for hot checks would be3 years. But the warrant does not expire. Rather than paying the checks off at this point, you should contact the DA to work out an out of court settlement, it will likely involve paying the hot checks and some form of community service/fines (provided this is your first offense).
