Question

Gas installer coming to run a line for the barbeque. I've got natural gas in the house. Running a line outside to where I want it for the barbeque is very far and not convenient. However, if he punches a hole in the wall in the basement utility room (where the gas already is) he will be no more than 10 feet from where I want the gas for the barbeque. So my question is: Can you run a natural gas line into a house and then back out of the house for an outside connection? My concern is temperature differences etc. does it matter? This question pertains to Ontario Canada. Of course I expect the gas installer to know the answer but am anticipating he may just want to go the "easiest" way and not necessarily the neat way.

Thank you for using Just Answer!

You can run the natural gas line back outside for the bbq connection. I'm sure that the installer will want to tie into the closest location as you said and then go through the wall. He will need to sleeve the pipe where it goes through the wall as well. I am not familiar with codes in Canada, but be sure that he educates you on any codes or inspections that will need to be done on the installation.
