Dear XXXXXXX:
Please clarify:
Does this happen with certain foods or all foods?
Any history of diabetes or hypoglycemia?
You are offline, so I'll leave my thoughts.
Two possible diagnoses include food allergy and postprandial hypoglycemia (low blood sugar after eating due to pancreas release of the hormone insulin). Your primary care doctor, an Allergy/Immunology specialist, or an endocrinologist (hormone specialist) can help to confirm the diagnosis and treatment options.
As the symptoms occur with any food and there is a family history of diabetes, postprandial hypoglycemia is a higher possibility. You probably cannot rid yourself of these symptoms until the underlying cause is determined and treated, but taking a diet high in protein (lean meat, poultry, and fish) and fat and low in carbohydrate (like the Atkins diet) and/or choosing carbohydrates that are low to medium in both glycemic index and glycemic load (both measures of how much they promote blood sugar increase, which triggers insulin release and subsequent blood sugar decrease with symptoms) may lessen symptoms until a doctor can evaluate you. If there is no one else in the household, you may want to seek medical evaluation soon (perhaps even tonight) and preferably with a relative or friend in attendance since hypoglycemia can cause one to pass out or even go into a coma.
