Question

My rat terrier is 12 pounds. She has a history of bladder infection, blood in her urine. She needs enrofloxacin. I am unemployed and cannot afford a vet visit. Can I order online? What website do you reccommend and what dosage would I use?

Optional Information

Age: 3; Female; Breed: Rat Terrier

Already Tried:
About a year ago she got very sick with high sodium because she was in the cat food and she was leaking urine. The vet took lost of tests and her kidneys are good. Put her on KD foot, DES hormones and Enroflacin, all helped. I have not been strict on her diet the last few months. I ran out of DES about 2 months ago, she has not been leaking. 2 days ago she started spotting blood in her urine.

Answer

Hello,

I am sorry, there are no places online where you can order this or any other antibiotic without a prescription from your vet. The good news is if she has a history you may be able to call your vet and explain the financial situation. Let your vet know what you suspect and explain to him you do not have the funds for a visit at this time. Ask him if he can write a prescription based on her history. Now this is a personal choice, some vets have no problem if the dog has shown a history, but some vets will not do this. But its worth a try.

If your vet is unwilling to write a prescription you may want to ask him if he has any payment plans that you can use. While some vets will not do this, others will. There is also the option of using care credit. This is a financing company for emergency's such as this. Its basically like a credit card with monthly payments. Here is the website: www.carecredit.com

Here is also a website of programs that will help with the cost of emergency care: Please click Here

I see Enrofloxacin on line to purchase. Why can't I purchase for my dog?

Accepted Answer

Hello,

You can purchase it online...........if you have a prescription. The site will let you order it, but will request you to submit your prescription though fax or mail before they will ship it.
