Subject to and consistent with your risk tolerance profile limitations, you may want to invest up to 60% in stock funds and the balance in fixed income funds. Of the 60% in stock funds, you may want to allocate 25% to large capitalization stocks, 15% to midsize companies, 10% to small companies and 10% to international companies.
In the fixed income portion, you may want to invest 15% in investment grade bonds (short and medium term average maturities), 10% in mortgage backed (and/or government bonds), 8% in high yield, and 7% in international bonds.
