Question

I have a Burnham V8 4 section boiler - approx 160KBTU and I wanted to remove a section to reduce the size - also it is in my driveway and by doing this I can bring it in my basement in sections. Any thoughts? There is no problem with the combustion tube and I believe this is what Burnham does as this unit is available in 129K and 160K.

Also do you know what kind of cement they use in between the section and if they use a particular torque value will tightening the two rods that hold the sections together. I guess they use a pry bar to separate them or screwdriver. Any input on disassemble and reassembly will be greatly apprecaited. Thank you for all of your help.

Answer

This should work because that is how they down size them when you buy them. As far as torque ratings just till it does not leak and I would think that you would not have to kill it either. Start apart with Cold chisel

Answer

Would like to know how you make out on this one I never had anyone that wanted this done. You might be able to purchase new sides for the shorter boiler when done
