Question

I have a Goodman A49-15 air handler. The blower is having trouble kicking on. Basically, the outside unit turns on and starts feeding cold air to the inside unit. However, the inside unit will not turn on unless I turn the breaker switch located on the unit off and then back on. Any ideas?

Answer

Sounds like the indoor fan relay is bad or the motor itself needs to be changed. A few simple tests could point you which direction to go. One would be to wire the motor direct and see if it still stalls or fail to turn

Funny thing is, this happened about a year ago. I fixed it by cleaing the fan. If the motor itself is bad, then I assume it would not start at all, correct? SOunds like I need to call a tech. I have no idea how to wire the motor direct

Accepted Answer

Well if the motor lands on a dead spot sometimes they don't start. but if you have some one turn the off and on you might see something at the air handler and be able to determine whats going on
