Go to device manager:
Click on Start > RunType devmgmt.msc and press enterHere expand "Imaging devices" by clicking on "+"
Can you see the "Acer Orbicam" here, also if you see is it having some error? (Like a yellow !)
Have you tried a system restore yet?
Ya you can do a system restore in XP also,
Try to restore the system to a previous date before this problem occoured, it may resolve the issue its creating,to restore follow these process:
Click on start > Click on all programs > Click on accessories > Click on system tools > Click on system restore.
System restore will start > Choose "Restore my computer to an earlier time"> choose next > choose a date in which you have not yet faced the problem > Click next
System will restart after restore process.
See if this works, else reply for further follow-up.
What is the exact make and model of the Acer?
Try this and check if the problem persists:
Download the application software from here, according to your model: http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads_gd.html
Now uninstall the application.
Install and run ccleaner from this link: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
Reboot the computer.
After rebooting the computer, just try to install the latest application downloaded in the previous step.
See if this helps.
You can choose the exact operating system from the dropdown menu on the top for operating system. Just choose Windows XP there to list drivers for your operating system.

First of all unzip the driver into a folder. Now done follow this:
Go to device manager > right click on the camera and click uninstall.
After rebooting the computer, just the computer will find new hardware and add new hardware will start. Just follow the normal installation process.
