Question

I have an Aspire Noteboo AS7520-5115 with 'quick launch' buttons for Internet and Mail. The mail button always sends me to MS Outlook. The handbook says these buttons are 'user programmable.' How do I program this mail button to send me to Windoes Mail (was outlook express) which is my default mail handler?

Answer

hello sir,

it is very easy. you can add any icon there.

just click on your start button.

go to Windows Live Mail section. when you find it, right click on it (WINDOWS LIVE ICON) and then start dragging with right mouse and then drop in on your quick launch bar.

sorry can't find 'Live Mail section' you mention the quick launch bar. It is the 'Quick Launch Button' I wish to program.

Windows Mail is an integral part of Vista and replaced what was Outlook Express on XP. I access it by clicking on the Windows Mail Icon on my desktop but would like the "Quick Launch Button" on the keyboard of my Acer Notebook to open the Windows Mail Programme and NOT the Microsoft Office Outlook programme. The Acer handbook supplied with the computer says that this button is "User Programmable" but doesent tell you how to do this. I am quite happy with adding and removing icons to and from the 'quick launch bar'

Accepted Answer

oh i understood sir, Thanks.

it is very easy.

please go to your CONTROL PANEL.

in here, you will see the DEFAULT PROGRAMS icon. just click on it.

when you are there, select SET DEFAULT PROGRAMS.

when you enter it, in the left pane of the screen you will see WINDOWS MAIL. just click on it, and then select SET THIS AS DEFAULT.

it will be set your default program. when you press your quick launch button, it will automatically run your windows mail, not outlook expres.s
