Question

HI I have a Seadoo 2002 GTX 4 stroke. It has been sitting about 8 months. Charged battery, started it, idled for about 3 minutes gave a little gas and it started making a horrible rattling noise and lost rpm and died. Very hard to start after that. Had gas in it this whole time. Could it be a gas problem?

Answer

Hi XXXXXXXXXX,
Doubtful, very doubtful.
Usually a noise as horrible as you described are the mechanical parts inside the engine breaking.
What you need to do right now is a compression test on the engine. I suspect you are going to find you have at least one bad cylinder (low or no compression.) At that point, it is going to have to come apart to assess the extent of the damage and estimate the costs to repair it.
Thanks
