I have a 4-in-one printer,model X5495. The problem I'm having is the Fax. The message I get is that I do not have a driver for it. How do I get it to work and where do I get a driver. I am with the Verizon Fios system on my computor. Any response will help. Thanks

I have uninstalled about 5 times and still get the same answer. I even went and bought a new printer, the same model, and that doesn't work on the fax.

I HAVE A HP COMPUTOR. ALL THE OTHER FUNCTIONS SEEM TO BE WORKING. AND I HAVE THE DRIVER FOR THE PRINTER INSTALLED BUT DON'T KNOW IF I HAVE THE LATEST. I'M NOT TO UP ON COMPUTERS.

Answer

First of all uninstall the printer again.

Download the latest drivers from this link(search for X5495 in "search by model"): http://tinyurl.com/5m5fp6

Download and run ccleaner from here(It's free, don't buy anything): http://www.ccleaner.com/

Now re-install your printer using the latest drivers downloaded in previous step.

See if this works.

I DID WHAT YOU SAID BUT ON THE DOWNLOADS WHERE IS THE DOWNLOAD DRIVER FOR THE FAX. THE PRINTER INSTALLED PROPERLY BUT I KEEP GETTING A MESSAGE THAT I DON'T HAVE A FAX DRIVER. IT STILL WON'T WORK

You have to search for "Lexmark X5495" in the "Search by Model" field, than you be redirected to the download drivers page, from there select your operating system from the drop down menu and download the drivers.

I'M SORRY BUT I STILL CANNOT GET THE FAX TO WORK. I WENT TO DOWNLOAD DRIVERS AND IT DOES'NT LIST ANYTHING ON FAX DREIVERS. I DOWNLOADED THE PRINTER DRIVE BUT KEEP GETTING THE MESSAGE ON THE FAX WHICH IS THE FAX PROGRAM AND DRIVER DO NOT EXIST. I DON'T WHAT ELSE TO DO.

Actually there is nothing such as a fax driver, the all-in-one have a single driver file and it is used to perform all the tasks. Have you selected the operating system from the drop down?

Go to device manager by:
Click on Start > Run
Type devmgmt.msc and press enter
Here try to find the Lexmark X5495, is it having any kind of errors? (Like a Yellow ! mark)

I FOUND THE YELLOW ?MARKS ON LEXMARK. WENT INTO DEVMGMT.MSC TO REINSTALL DRIVERS AND IT TELLS ME THAT THE SOFTWARE DOSE NOT EXIST. I HAVE UNINSTALLED IT ABOUT 5 TIMES AND STILL GET THE SAME ANSWER....THE SOFTWARE DOES NOT EXIST.

Answer

Download the printer drivers from here: http://tinyurl.com/p43unj

Than, go to device management > Right click on the lexmark and click on uninstall
After sucessful uninstall power off the printer and reboot the computer.
After the computer restarts, power on the printer, a new hardware installation will start.
Now follow the simple instructions for reinstall, use this driver while reinstalling. See if all goes well.
