Question

My cat has been diagnosed with fibrous sarcoma. We are trying to decide the best option for her. It is on the top of her shoulder, where injections were done years before. The cat is 10 years old. Help?

A biopsy was done to confirm the diagnosis. We are unsure what to do next. What is the possibility of this cancer to reappear somewhere else in the log term.

Info Request

Hi there,

Is she eating?

Was she seen by an oncologist?

Thanks,

Terri

Ys, she is eating and moving around well. We did see an oncologist and that process is very expensive. We wonder if we only do the surgery, what will be the pronosis? Also, the sarcoma has one stem where it is attached to her shoulder, neck area.

Answer

Dear friend,

I am sorry your girl has this diagnosis.Unfortunately, fibrosacoma can be aggressive so you do want to do surgery ASAP. Chemo and or radiation are acceptable as well.

Fortunatel, cats do not become ill from chemo like people do.

I know this is expensive but vet schools are researching this cancer. If you have one in driving distance they may treat her free or very low cost.

Please let me know how she is doing.

Best wishes and prayers for her,

Terri
