Answer
Hello,
Bleeding from the rectum can be caused by various reasons. It's possible that your cat ingested a non-food item and this is causing irritation and bleeding in her intestinal tract. The presence of intestinal parasites can cause blood in the stool, and/or bleeding from the rectum. You can see more information about this symptom, here:
http://www.petplace.com/cats/hematochezia-blood-in-stool-in-cats/page1.aspx
If your cat is bleeding consistently, she needs to be evaluated by a vet, immediately, to find the cause and have it treated. If you just see a blood spot where she sits, but she's not actively bleeding constantly, she may have an irritation/sore on her anus, or the blood may be coming from her vulva, indicating a urinary tract infection.
I hope you're able to have your cat assessed and treated by the vet, as soon as possible, and all will be well.

what is a good product to try to eliminate possible parasites?

Hello again, and thanks for your reply.
Worming medications from the vet are most effective, but over the counter worming meds which contain both Praziquantel and Pyrantel Pamoate are usually effective in treating all varieties of worms. However, please be aware that worms are not the only intestinal parasites which can affect cats. Coccidia and giardia, are single-celled, protozoan, microscopic organisms which can only be identified through a fecal analysis by the vet. These need prescription treatments from the vet.

ok Cher, I'm going to try the simplest solution first since the cat doesn't display any signs of discomfort - You've given me a direction to go in - if that doesn't work, I'll call a vet - thank you for your help...
