Hello and thanks so much for choosing this forum to pose your important legal question. I will do my best to give you some honest and accurate guidance as I answer your question.

 

1. I am a licensed attorney, and I will be glad to try and answer your question. I hope that the following information will be helpful to you, but please just write back if you have any follow-up questions or need clarification on anything after reviewing the following information. It is great to hear from you, Major, and please allow me to apologize for the delay in getting back to you. I have been ill the past couple of days with a lousy case of flu, and I am truly sorry for keeping you hanging. I will be sure to check back periodically for any updated posts from you.
2. The terms of participation in this online forum prohibit the legal experts from making direct referrals, but I do have a couple of suggestions for your situation. I realize that this may not be what you were hoping for, so please do not feel obliged to pay for this answer if the information is not particularly helpful to you. The first place I would check is the American Bar Association Military Pro Bono Project. I say that, however, with a suspicion that you may not be eligible based on my understanding on some restrictions (i.e. pay grade, active duty status, etc.). It would be worth a try at least to contact Jason Vail, Project Director, at vailj@staff.abanet.org or XXX-XXX-XXXX.
3. If that does not prove to be helpful, then the next place I would look would be through the Nebraska State Bar Association. There are 144 lawyers listed as practicing military law, but the bulk of those attorneys are engaged with the military or other governmental agencies. In other words, anyone with a "mil" e-mail address will obviously not fit the bill. However, there are also a number of civilian attorneys practicing military law if you scroll through the listings.
4. Beyond that, probably the most trusted referral source relied on by the legal community for years is Martindale-Hubbell. This is where I would start as it is a much more manageable list (seven attorneys) and does not include all of the military listings. I have listed these lawyers (below) for your reference, and due to the length I am sending the other listings from the state bar in a separate post. I hope this gives you some avenues worth pursuing, but if I can do anything else please just say the word.
