Question
My son who is 17 was seeing a girl who he thought was 19. The woman we have come to find out is 24 years old. She has just had a baby, and is naming my son as the father. I told him not to sign anything. Can she be charged with child molestation? He says if I do anything legal against her he is going to run away.

I have not done anything yet because I am afraid that my son will do something crazy. This woman has 4 other children. I just found this out yesterday. I am so upset I just don't know what to do.
Accepted Answer
She certainly could face criminal charges. If the roles were reversed and he was 24 and she was 17, he could be prosecuted criminally, for felony charges. The criminal act would not relieve him of any responsibility for the child, if it turns out to be his. If he questions if the child is his, he should take a paternity test, to make she is not trying to take advantage of him. If you want to pursue criminal charges, you can file a criminal complaint with the police and allow them to investigate this.
