Not a Real Estate Law Question?
Question
we live in a four unit apt that has been foreclosed and put up for auction, we haven't paid rent for 3 mo. and now we have received notice to call a person to make plans to move, then a person told me about "cash for keys" program. I live in citrus heights, calif. Is this for real? and how much does a person get? Does this incl. each person in the occupancy or is this avail. to per unit?

Answer

Thank you for your question.

The cash for keys program is an incentive that new homeowners or bank utilize to avoid the hassles of having to go through the hassles of a court eviction. They generally offer anywhere from $1k-$3k per unit in exchange for the keys to the property. Usually the tenant must vacate the home in a short amount of time, usually around 7 days.

Please let me know if you have any other questions on this matter, or require clarification. Otherwise please hit "ACCEPT", so I may receive credit for my efforts.

Good Luck!
