Question

I recently had a sunroom built onto the side of my home. One wall of the sunroom is the former exterior wall of the house with windows, a sliding glass door, and a stucco wall. Is there a product I can apply to the stucco to smooth it out before I paint. It is a very rough stucco..............m

Answer

Thank you for using Just Answer!

Your best option would be to have the wall restuccoed with a smooth finish. Because you are putting new stucco over old stucco then you will have to use a bonding agent prior to the new coat. Attached is a link as an example:

Be sure to chip off any loose stucco or pieces that need repair. Powerwashing the surface will also need to be done and dried completely. You will want a clean and dry surface prior to apply the smooth finish coat of stucco. Quckcrete also has stucco products that you can purchase as well.

I recommend contacting atleast 3 contractors in your area and getting quotes on what this project will cost. This is not really a do it yourself project unless you have previous experience with stucco applications.

Powerwashing to restucco is not an option.....it is now a wall inside a room. There would be no place for the water from the powerwasher to run off.

Accepted Answer

You can brush it down with water. Basically want to remove any surface dirt that would prevent bonding. This way there will be no water runoff.
